Blue Hors Monte Carlo possesses three exceptionally good gaits, with a powerful engine and strong push-off that sets him apart as a stallion for the very highest level of sport.
At the KWPN stallion licensing in 2020, Monte Carlo presented himself so convincingly that he was naturally selected as a premium stallion, standing out as the most powerful mover of the event. After the Dutch licensing, Blue Hors visited Monte Carlo at his holder van Uytert, at a time when the stallion had only just been started under saddle. Even so, his enormous potential was already clear. Later that year, Monte Carlo was also presented at the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing in Herning, where he once again earned premium status.
Following the licensing, he completed the 10-day observation test with the following positive comments:
“Willing, easy to ride, and energetic stallion. The walk is rhythmic and energetic. The trot is elastic, energetic, and supple with good carriage and push. The canter is spacious and elastic with good balance and uphill tendency.”
At KWPN’s performance test in 2020, he placed 2nd with scores including 9 for walk, 8.5 for trot, 9 for canter, 8.5 for suppleness, 8.5 for posture and balance, 8.5 for rideability and mindset, and 9 for capacity.
In 2021, Monte Carlo finished 3rd at the Danish Equestrian Federation’s 4-year-old dressage championship final. His scores: 8 for trot, praised by the judges for its extensions; 8.5 for a clear and correct walk; 9 for an excellent canter with uphill tendency and strong extensions; 8.6 for rideability; 9 for capacity; for a total of 89.60 points. Judges especially emphasized his high capacity, which will be unique to develop for the future. In 2022, he again reached the final for 5-year-olds, confirming his talent.
Monte Carlo’s pedigree combines the stallion line of Dream Boy with a strong performance damline based on mares by United and Jazz.
His sire Dream Boy (Vivaldi/Ferro) competes at international Grand Prix with Hans Peter Minderhoud. His damsire United (Krack C/Partout) competed at Intermediaire before injury ended his career; both his sire and grandsire competed at international Grand Prix with Anky van Grunsven. The second damsire Jazz competed at international Grand Prix with Tineke Bartels and Kirsten Beckers and is regarded as one of the most influential sires in modern dressage breeding.
Monte Carlo was bred by Dutch breeder W. den Besten, from a damline that has produced Grand Prix horses such as Murdock (by Balzflug), Annette Ballerina (by Scandic), Bolero (by Johnson), as well as licensed stallions like Joop TC (by Ravel) and Son De Niro (by De Niro).
