In 2020, Blue Hors Viconte passed his German stallion performance test with a final score of 8.44. His marks included 9.5 for rideability under the test rider, 8.5 for trot, 9 for canter, 7 for walk, 8.5 for rideability, 8 for jumping, 9 for temperament, 9 for character, and 9 for willingness to work.
His pedigree unites two of the greatest modern sires and type-setters in dressage breeding: the Dutch stallion Vivaldi and the German Sandro Hit. Both competed up to Intermediaire level while simultaneously establishing themselves as two of the most influential modern foundation sires.
Viconte’s damline is one of Germany’s most powerful in recent decades, producing a large number of licensed stallions such as Samba Hit I–V, Caprigold, Quaterback, Quaterhit, Quaterstern, Quinoa, Qualiano, Da Silva, Don Royal, Benedette Ragazzo, Fürst Fontane – many of them premium stallions.
The damline’s major international breakthrough came through the mare Poetin (by Sandro Hit/Brentano II), who won the World Championships for Young Horses as a 5-year-old and became the most expensive riding horse of her time, setting a price record at the P.S.I. auction. Poetin, the full sister to Viconte’s dam, had several highly graded sisters who became damlines to licensed stallions. Viconte’s granddam, the elite mare Poesie, is the dam of the licensed stallions Samba Hit I–V and the granddam of Quaterback, among others.
This damline has also produced countless successful sport horses and dressage horses up to Grand Prix level.
