At the top of international dressage stands Blue Hors Don Olymbrio, who made his international Grand Prix debut in 2017 with Daniel Bachmann Andersen. In 2018, despite his young age, he competed at several major international shows, and in 2019 Don Olymbrio broke the magical 80% barrier at the World Cup in Amsterdam, the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing in Herning, the World Cup in ’s-Hertogenbosch, the five-star CHIO Aachen, and the World Cup Herning, where he claimed a double victory. These achievements led to an impressive 11th place on the FEI World Rankings in 2019 and 14th place in 2020.
In 2021, Don Olymbrio made his debut as Nanna Skodborg Merrald’s dressage partner, with the pair winning the CDI3* Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special at the Blue Hors Dressage Festival in Randbøl. The following year, they repeated their success at the same show with a double victory in the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle. In early 2023, they competed at CDI Herning during the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing, where they won the CDI3* Grand Prix Special with an impressive 76.362%.
Don Olymbrio carries the very best Dutch bloodlines, which shine through in his beautiful expression and impressive gaits that already made a strong impression as a 3-year-old stallion. His sire Jazz dominated the WBFSH dressage sire rankings for many years and is considered the most influential Dutch breeding stallion of the past 25–30 years. Jazz produced numerous licensed sons and elite mares, but above all, the number of offspring competing at the very top of the sport makes him invaluable for modern breeding.
His damsire Ferro, winner of his performance test, was known for his strong character and powerful hindleg. With rider Coby van Baalen, Ferro won Olympic team silver in Sydney 2000. He founded his own stallion line and is sire of many famous stallions such as Rousseau (sire of Blue Hors Zack), Negro, Metall, Special D, and Rhodium, all of which, like Ferro himself, are renowned for their ability to collect – an essential trait for dressage horses. With his many famous sons and eleven KWPN-approved grandsons, Ferro earned the prestigious “Preferent” title.
Don Olymbrio’s damline, Dutch mare family 145, is among the most successful in the Netherlands. It also produced OO Seven by Rubinstein and Edward Gal’s Grand Prix horse Voice, winner of several international Grand Prix competitions, including a World Championship qualifier in 2015. Other Grand Prix horses from this line include Celiton, Kadans, and Olympic Babria, who won Olympic team silver in Atlanta 1996 under Tineke Bartels. His great-granddam Ezabria was crowned Dutch Champion as a 3-year-old.
